QU Baseball Welcomes back Alumni

QU alumAlumni weekend is always a special one, especially when it is your own team.

This past weekend (Oct. 9-11) the QU baseball team welcomed back some of their fellow alumni.  It all started out on Friday, October 9th at QU stadium for the annual alumni game.  Two teams competed in a friendly competition.

Quincy University 5th year senior Zach Knese said, “It is always a blast to see my previous teammates again.  I grew up in college with them and they have played a big part in shaping my college experience.”

The next day was the annual golf outing in Camp Point, IL.  The outing is held at Indian Trails Golf Course.  Players and alumni started arriving around 10 a.m. and it lasted until late afternoon.  Food was served early on and golf carts went around the course handing out drinks.

This was a fundraiser so different holes had different stipulations, such as longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt.  Prizes for the winners included baseball gear, money and a new driver or putter.

Head coach Josh Rabe said, “This fundraiser and alumni weekend is pretty special.  I have guys that I played with here come back and then some of the first guys I coached come back.  It shows the rich history of Quincy University baseball.”

The festivities concluded later that night as Barney’s Tavern opened their back bar up for the alumni to reminisce on the good times.
