Quincy University Senior quarterback Nick Lonergan played his final game as a Hawk on Saturday against Missouri S&T University, finishing with a career high four touchdown passes and 366 passing yards. A workhorse for the Hawks since day one, Lonergan finished his career leading all passing statistical categories in school history. Lonergan goes out with 62 passing touchdowns, a school record.
Despite the outcome of his senior season, Nick is glad for the experiences that he was able to share. “My time here has been fun. I’m glad to help set the foundation for a program that’s on the rise. I’ve played with some great guys, and the bond I have with my teammates will extend past my playing days” Lonergan said.
When its all said and done, Lonergan ended with 8,424 passing yards and 462 passes completed. He attempted over 800 passes as well as amassing over 40.9 average punt yards. In his time here, Lonergan went to work for this program.
“Moving forward, I’m ready to see what life has in store for me. Football has been such a huge part of my life and now that my career here at Quincy is over, I’m eager to see what the next challenge is” said Lonergan.
One thing is certain, Lonergan definitely left an impact on the Hawks, on the field and in the record books.
