Coaching and staff changes within athletic department

Over these past several months, there have been many coaches and staff changes at Quincy University.
Men’s Basketball
One of the biggest changes is that Marty Bell has retired from the men’s basketball head coaching position to focus more on his athletic director responsibilities.

Bell announced in August that Ryan Hellenthal is the new men’s basketball head coach after a year as an assistant coach at Quincy University.
Adam Notteboom, former assistant coach, left for Nashville, Tennessee as he accepted a new position.
Hellenthal announced that Tim Bergstraser will take over as assistant coach.
Bergstraser spent last two years over at Minnesota State – Moorehead while helping the team go 54-12 while making two NCAA tournaments.
Hellenthal also announced that Von Washington will be the JV head basketball coach.
Washington was part of the best basketball teams in QU history last year a 20 win season and capturing the conference championship title.
Football
Tom Pajic left the head coaching position earlier this year and accepted a player development role with Temple University.
Gary Bass was named interim head football coach after being an associate head coach and offensive coordinator last year.

Khanis Hubbard was promoted to interim associate head coach and will switch from being a defensive coordinator to offensive coordinator.
Sean Kelly was promoted to the defensive coordinator after being a linebacker’s coach the last six years for the Hawks. He will also be the recruiting coordinator as well.
Ben Clark and Phil Schron were hired as first time coaches. Clark will be tight end coach as well as social media and video coordinator.
Schron will be the linebacker coach as well as academic coordinator.
Men’s Volleyball
Last spring, former head coach, Hadley Foster, was fired in the middle of the season for undisclosed reasons.
In May, Marty Bell, announced that Gavin Mueller will be the new head coach for men’s volleyball.
Mueller graduated from Quincy University in 2014 and was a graduate assistant last year helping the team.
Women’s Volleyball
Marty Bell announced that Abby Moser will take over as an head coach after, Bob Crank stepped down and took a head coaching position at Southeast Missouri State.

Women’s Basketball
Head coach, Jeni Garber, announced changes in her coaching staff.
Hannah Weedman has been promoted assistant coach and will also be the recruiting coordinator. She was a graduate assistant last year.
Men’s Soccer
Men’s Soccer head coach, Mike Carpenter, announced this past summer that Ben Clarvis was been hired to be an assistant coach.
Communication Director
The athletic department are currently looking for a new communication director after Brendan Bittner accepted a new position closer to home.
