QU Asylum a Huge Hit

Quincy University’s CEO Club hosted a haunted house for the community this past weekend.  I did not know what to expect when I arrived at the event.  But after everything was over, I can truly say that the CEO Club knocked this one out of the park.

I arrived around 10 p.m. on Friday night and it was packed.  I had to wait 45-50 minutes to finally go through the “Asylum.” What I thought was cool was that it was on 3 different stories in the alleged haunted part of North Campus. Waiting in line for my turn, I could hear screams, chainsaws, loud bangs and terrified kids of all ages, so I knew I was in for a treat.  Once it was over, there were games and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.

“I had chills walking through these halls.  I come through here during the day and it is creepy.  Now walking though here at night, it adds a little extra spookiness,” said junior Emily Stollberg.

The Eagle’s Nest Hotel and Conference Center originally had the haunted house in the Quincy area.  They decided to not bring that back for 2015, so the Haunted Asylum was the only haunted house in Quincy.

“School run events are either a hit or miss, and QU definitely did an amazing job on this.  I think they raised some eyebrows on this event like mine,” said junior Nick Genova.

The only complaints I had on this event were that it started raining and the wait.  They could not do anything about the rain and the long line just meant the event was successful.

The Asylum was a huge hit and for this being only the first time, it is only going to grow each year once word gets out.  The CEO Club should give themselves a pat on the back because this was better than expected.
