New Kid on the Block adds to Greek Row

Greek life is a big part of college life offering chances to meet new people and experience different opportunities. Quincy University has lacked the fraternity side of Greek life recently. Alpha Psi Delta is looking to change that.

The fraternity will be going into its first full year and already has big plans for growing and events to help make the campus a place students want to be at.

“We want to bring more people in, and we want to have more buzz on campus. We want to bring life back to campus, I felt like the culture here was very quiet. It was like everyone went home on the weekend and nobody stayed on campus because there wasn’t a reason too. I want to bring an environment that people enjoy being here,” Lucas Sartori, pledge master, said.

So far Alpha Psi Delta has helped out with QU’s blood drives and looks to help support local farms as they feel they don’t get the right representation. Mom and pop stores are also businesses that Alpha Psi Delta look to help fund and support. The fraternity looks to give back to the community in any way they can.

The fraternity started out as an idea at a practice and was set in motion from there. The steps were taken, and the sororities found themselves a new brother.

Alpha Psi Delta sits on Greek Row.

“Just seeing a group of friends come together have a vision, and then seeing that vision come together it was really nice,” Michael Owens, president, said.

Right now, Alpha Psi Delta has 12 members and is looking to expand. Recruitment will pick up in the spring as most members are on the football team and in season. Sartori hopes to up the number of members to 20 and branch out to other teams and students on campus.

Events are in the workshop right now, but there are ideas that the fraternity is coming up with to fulfill their hopes to make the campus a place people want to spend their time at.

“As of right now one of our upcoming events is something for Halloween, what it’s going to be I’m not sure but it will be a good time I promise it,” Sartori said.

They each have big plans for the direction they want Alpha Psi Delta so keeping informed and updated will be important. Updates will be sent to QU emails for any events set up in the future.
