QU students prepare for December Graduation
As the fall semester draws to a close at Quincy University, some students are not planning their schedules for spring classes. Instead, they are preparing to wrap up their academic journeys with a December graduation. While many students traditionally graduate after the spring semester, there is a growing number just as excited about the winter commencement ceremony scheduled for Dec. 14.
With only a few weeks left until the end of the semester, some seniors are focused on meeting their final requirements, which include 30 approved service hours, completion of the Bonaventure course, and meeting the 120 hours credit requirement within their chosen degree program.

History and criminal justice major Cheyenne DeWeese expressed her excitement about finishing her degree at QU.
“I’m really excited to be graduating in December because it’s just been such an amazing experience for me here at QU,” Deweese said. “To be able to wrap it all up and have a job lined up afterward that I can just move straight into is just really awesome for me.”
For students like DeWeese, the winter commencement ceremony is the perfect culmination of their hard work and dedication. Having a job secured post-graduation allows her to seamlessly transition from her academic life into a professional career — a goal many graduating students share.
Other students, such as John Jennings, a sport management major, are looking forward to continuing their education at Quincy University.
“I’m excited about graduating because, one, it’s early. I get the process done sooner than everyone else,” Jennings said. “I plan to come back and get my master’s in business administration, and it’s been a super easy process. I’m excited to get that ball rolling.”
Quincy University offers an efficient pathway for students who want to jump right into a graduate program, making it easy for December graduates to stay on track academically without taking extended time off. For students like Jennings, the chance to get a head start on a graduate degree means completing their advanced studies sooner and entering the workforce with added credentials.
As the Dec. 14 ceremony approaches, many students are focused on meeting their final graduation requirements. It’s a busy and often emotional time as students reflect on their years at Quincy, plan for the future, and prepare to say goodbye to the campus community. The winter commencement will take place at 9 a.m. in Quincy University’s Health and Fitness Center, and it will be a milestone for all involved.

The university has made information about the ceremony accessible to both students and their families. For more details on Quincy University’s winter commencement, including schedules and requirements, students and families are encouraged to visit quincy.edu/academics/commencement.
