If you haven’t already heard, there is a Christian worship service geared directly towards college-aged people in Quincy. The Crossing Church, which is located on 48th St., holds a service which they call The Collective every Tuesday night at 7:30.

The Collective team leaders huddle up around 6:30 in prayer prior to the service. When they are done, the doors are opened up wide and the team will be waiting to greet you on your way in. Inside the common area, there is a coffee shop that offers half price drinks as well as half price lotus. However, the half price drinks are just to get you in the door. Once you’re in there is a whole lot more waiting for you.

The service starts off with a live band…they’re pretty legit too. There are multiple guitarists, multiple singers, and a very talented drummer in the back setting the tone. They play two to three songs to start off the service. Then there is a speaker who gives a sermon and builds off of whatever The Collective spoke on the week prior. There is dedicated time for quiet prayer. Then to finish it all off the band comes back on and rocks the building one more time before it is over.

“It means everything, we really believe that this generation is not the future, it’s the now,” said Andrew Kovar, collective team leader.

The Collective team is very welcoming of any newcomers who might want to check out this out for themselves. The members of The Collective believe that there is power in numbers.

“I’m a believer, I’ve always been a believer. Since being in college I’ve been doing it more for myself. Since I’ve been going to The Collective I’ve realized that there is power in fellowship and power in being around other believers. So it feels a lot better to me personally to surround myself with people that have similar beliefs as me and are striving to the same goal,” said J.D. Ortiz, a member of The Collective.

You do not need to bring anything but yourself to The Crossing on Tuesday nights. Just walk in the door, get greeted by a Collective team member. Give them your name and you’re all checked in and ready to build community.

“It’s super easy to get set up and checked in when you show up. Everyone there is really inviting and happy to have you in the building. I wish more people knew about The Collective because it’s honestly the highlight of most of my weeks,” said Ortiz.

So if you’re a college student in Quincy looking to build community and grow in your faith. Look no further than The Collective at The Crossing Church. They accept donations through their website and through the scannable QR code inside the Church.
