Best study spots across campus for QU students

Many say, April showers bring May flowers, but that’s not all May provides for QU students. It also brings final exams. With the semester winding down, the stress is ramping up, campus has many quiet spots for students to hit the books.

Brenner Library has many quiet and secluded areas for students to study. There are bean bag chairs to sit in, and you can even borrow a blanket during your time at the library. The second floor is a ‘silent zone’ where it is quieter than the main floor. Due to there being dozens of windows in the building, you can catch a glimpse of one of Quincy’s beautiful sunsets.

Just under the library is the Student Success Center (SSC), which is arguably the most popular cram session destination across campus. It has multiple group study rooms with whiteboards on each wall, as well as secluded exam rooms that can be used for quiet studying. The SSC also holds numerous events during the week leading up to finals and the week of exams. The Big Room, which has dry erase boards from wall-to-wall, also has comfortable chairs, and even a smart board.

“I like to use the Big Room because of the white boards, I love writing my study content out to better understand it, ” Ben Swanton said.

”I like to study on the top floor of the library where it’s nice and quiet, so I can get my assignments done,” Nolan May said.

As summer approaches, the weather starts to become nice, and some students like to do the studying and work outside.

“Its nice to be able to study outside and enjoy the nice days spring provides, I like to see my friends walking around campus,” Megan Schill said.

There are multiple picnic tables across campus, along with lawn chairs scattered throughout the fields. Some students like to put out blankets and towels and lie in the grass of Friars Field. Quincy provides pretty sunsets, so having a window seat in the library or a table outside will give you a great view of it.

Various clubs on campus are hosting events for Wellness week, some include goat yoga, a cram jam, flower pot painting, and a BBQ on Friars Field.
