Brenner Library connects students
For Quincy University students, Brenner Library is more than a place to check out books, it’s where learning, history, and growth come together in a space.
When you come inside, you are greeted by a mix of quiet study areas, rotating exhibits, and shelves filled with both digital resources and physical volumes. As finals near, the space becomes a reliable haven. Students sink into their studies, notebooks open, and focused. The study corners especially provide an experience that removes distraction by its placement.
Brenner Library plays an essential role on campus. It offers a blend of academic resources, personal space, and a calm atmosphere that’s increasingly hard to find elsewhere. From its high windows that bathe the reading areas in natural light to the carefully organized stacks and study rooms, the library is a symbol of Quincy University’s commitment to student success.
“It’s one of my favorite spots on campus,” “The quiet helps me concentrate, especially during finals. I honestly don’t know how I’d pass my classes without it,” Mason Wujeck said.
The antique displays, filled with various historical Midwest trade artifacts, is a part of the library’s small exhibit on regional agriculture. Through the glass, you can see rows of artifacts and books in the background, a great blend of history and library under one roof.

“When everything felt new and overwhelming, the library gave me routine. I go there after my morning classes. It’s peaceful, and I look forward to it,” Tiernan Stynes said.
Rows of aged covers litter the shelves in deep reds, greens, and browns, with titles like In Darkest Africa and Historic Midwest Houses. Leather spines and fading colors show the age and history some of these texts hold. These volumes are preserved not only for research but for their craftsmanship and insight.

“I meet with my study group there every Thursday. It’s the one place on campus where we can all focus without distractions. Plus, the staff always help when we need to find sources,” Todd Beig said.
This semester, the library introduced a new digital catalog, merging online resources with physical ones. QR codes posted near the help desk lead directly to tutorials on how to access journals and eBooks, a nice modern touch in a historic setting.
Brenner Library is more than its shelves. It’s an academic staple and a creative sanctuary that reflects the broader experience at Quincy University. Through silent study, collaborative work, or inspiration from the student gallery, it continues to serve as the heart of the campus.
