QU NCAA football’s historic season result of new program
Quincy University football has had an exceptional season in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, racking up wins that mark significant moments in the program’s history. Each victory this year has broken records and set milestones, establishing a foundation for a promising future.
One of the standout achievements came when Quincy defeated Missouri S&T on the road. It was the first time the Hawks had managed a win there since 1998, breaking a 25-year drought. The team also hit a new high in conference victories, logging five wins, which has never been done before in school history.

Quincy also celebrated a landmark victory over McKendree, securing a win on the road against them for only the second time. Additionally, the Hawks capped off Senior Night with a win over William Jewell, marking their first Senior Night victory since 2019.
Aaron Lawrence, Quincy’s defensive line coach, noted the importance of looking ahead and not dwelling on past achievements.
“You can’t just get hung up on what we did last year,” Lawrence said. “It’s a brand new year, with different guys. The hungry mindset has to be taken week in and week out.”
His perspective reflects the team’s ongoing commitment to improvement, ensuring they don’t rest on the laurels of past successes but keep striving for new ones.
Head coach Jason Killday always talks of the firsts he has been apart of in his coaching career. This season at Quincy has been no different, as in his first season he has already accomplished so many firsts. He has helped turn a new page in QU NCAA Football and will only hope to improve on this success.
As the season heads into its final game, Quincy will travel to Missouri Western on Nov 16, aiming to close out this record-breaking year on a high note. Missouri Western will be a tough challenge for the Hawks as they play in the MIAA, one of DII football’s most respected conferences.
The Hawks’ consistent improvement from previous seasons sets a strong foundation for the program’s future, and the team’s resilience and focus have been essential in securing historic wins. The program is trending up and will continue to grow, with this season serving as a pivotal turning point for the team.
