Midterms keep QU students busy before spring break
Spring break is just around the corner, but for many students at Quincy University, the week leading up to it is anything but relaxing. With midterms in full swing, students are balancing exams, projects, and their social lives while trying to stay focused.
As the calendar inches closer to spring break, students are facing a packed schedule of tests and assignments. Many are finding creative ways to prepare, including studying together with friends.
Freshman Abbie Martin says group study sessions have become an important part of how she prepares for exams.
“How I’m studying for my midterms is coming together as, like, friends and just kind of studying. And I have a big science test, so me and Abby have been trying to study a little bit. And yeah, I’m looking forward to spending time with my friends I haven’t seen in a while,” Martin said.
For other students, the workload can feel overwhelming. Abby Koonce says the days leading up to spring break are filled with multiple tests and projects, making the week particularly stressful.
“Yeah, my week up until spring break is looking really busy right now. I have five tests next week, group presentation. A lot is going on right now, and honestly, it’s a little stressful. But hanging out with friends, going on runs, hanging out with my team, it makes it all better,” Koonce said.

After a busy and stressful week of exams, Koonce says she is especially looking forward to taking a break and spending time with friends once midterms are over.
With multiple tests on her schedule, the days leading up to spring break are busy. However, Koonce says knowing that a week off is coming helps her stay motivated.
After finishing her exams, she hopes to relax, hang out with friends, and enjoy the break after putting so much time and effort into preparing for her classes.

Gracie Vierra is excited to go back home to California for spring break. She is looking forward to spending time with her family, but is mostly excited to see her dog again because she misses him so much while she is away for school.
“Honestly, this week has been really busy with all the midterms and assignments, but knowing spring break is coming makes it a lot easier to get through. I’m just trying to stay focused on my exams right now so that once they’re done, I can relax and enjoy spring break in California with my dog,” Vierra said.
Despite the pressure of midterms, many students say spending time with friends, exercising, and participating in group study sessions helps them manage the stress while still looking forward to a well-deserved break.
Students who need additional help preparing for midterms can contact or schedule a tutoring session through the Quincy University Student Success Center.
