New snow cone event beats the heat at Quincy University
During a hot summer, people crave the classics pools, sunshine, and that perfect golden tan. But for many, especially students juggling the return to classes, nothing hits the spot quite like a snow cone. At Quincy University, that nostalgic treat made a major comeback thanks to Hawk Life’s snow cone event.
Held on a sunny afternoon inside the Student Success Center, the event ran from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., drawing students from across campus looking to take a break, beat the heat, and maybe indulge their inner child for a few minutes.

Hawk Life, the student engagement arm of Quincy University, hosted the event as part of its ongoing mission to bring students together and make campus life vibrant and engaging. The organization is well-known for planning interactive, low-stress events that help students unwind, meet new people, and feel more connected to the university community.
Students had a variety of classic flavors to choose from blue raspberry, cherry, grape, and even tropical pineapple. Some students got creative, mixing flavors to make their own signature combinations.
The event was especially popular with first-year students, many of whom saw it as a fun, low-pressure way to get involved and meet classmates.
Though simple in concept, the event was effective in bringing smiles and sparking conversations. Between study sessions, classes, and the stress that comes with the start of a new academic year, Hawk Life’s snow cone event was a timely reminder that college can still have moments of fun and nostalgia.
By the end of the event, hundreds of cones had been served, and the Student Success Center was buzzing with laughter, sticky fingers, and the occasional brain freeze.
If Hawk Life’s goal was to beat the heat and boost school spirit, they certainly succeeded. Because at Quincy University, even a small scoop of ice and syrup can bring students together one sweet bite at a time.
