A new office opens doors for business students

A new addition to Francis Hall is giving Quincy University students a unique opportunity to prepare for the business world. The Entrepreneurship Office, launched at the start of the 2024-2025 school year, offers a space for students to explore their entrepreneurial interests, connect with resources, and gain hands-on experience in running businesses.

Roger Leenerts, director of entrepreneurship, is leading the effort to make the office a central hub for aspiring entrepreneurs. According to Leenerts, the office is not just a place for students to discuss business ideas, it’s a launching pad for creating opportunities.

“The most effective way for students to get involved is to stop by the office or contact me directly,” Leenerts said. “We also have an Entrepreneurship Club that meets every Monday at 7 p.m. in Francis Hall, Room 207. During these meetings, students hear from guest speakers and even get the chance to manage a business. This fall, we’re working on a key project, a haunted house initiative.”

While the office may be modest in size, its mission is expansive. Leenerts is focused on helping students develop skills that will set them apart in their careers, whether they aspire to land a corporate job or start their own business.

“A big part of this initiative is not just helping students find a job, but helping them create a job,” he said. “That’s a win not only for the students but also for the university.”

The Entrepreneurship Office reflects Quincy University’s commitment to growth and innovation. As the campus expands its programs and facilities, resources like this office provide students with valuable tools to prepare for life after graduation.

Leenerts encourages any student with an interest in business to stop by.

“If the door is open, I’m here to help. Whether you have a business idea or just want to learn more about entrepreneurship, this is the place to start,” he said.

For students looking to get a head start in the competitive world of business, Francis Hall’s Entrepreneurship Office is proving to be a game-changer.
